SCOTT WEILAND AND THE WILDABOUTS Guitarist JEREMY BROWN Has Passed Away

Former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver vocalist Scott Weiland, has confirmed the passing of Jeremy Brown (pictured above), the guitarist in his group The Wildabouts.

Weiland posted the following message late last night:

“We received a call today about my friend Jeremy Brown that has shaken me to the core. We were all concerned this afternoon when Jeremy didn’t show up for a long-scheduled rehearsal for tonight’s album release show at School Night. An hour later, Jeremy’s family called us to say that he had passed away.

I am in shock right now, everyone that knows him is devastated. It is a terrible loss that goes beyond words. He is one of my best friends, a truest friend and one of the most gifted guitar players that I’ve ever known. A true genius. It’s impossible to explain how much he will be missed and what a hole this will leave in our hearts.

A post on Facebook feels so trite and small compared to the love that I have for him and for the talent that has passed on but I felt it was necessary to at least start here. Please keep his family in your thoughts.”

Scott Weiland And The Wildabouts release their debut album, Blaster, today March 31st, through Softdrive Records/Universal Music in Canada.

Produced by Rick Parker (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club) and recorded throughout 2014 at Lavish Studios in Burbank and at The Sandbox in Beachwood Canyon, Blaster features 12 no-nonsense, straight-ahead rock tracks, including: “White Lighting”, “Modzilla” and “Way She Moves”.

Weiland and the Wildabouts’ guitarist Jeremy Brown, bassist Tommy Black, and drummer Danny Thompson, have a comradery fostered by years of jamming and touring together. After touring for several months in 2013, they hunkered down in Weiland’s Southern California studio and rehearsal space to write and record what would eventually become Blaster.

“The album has its own distinctive sound,” says Weiland, “but it also can entice those Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver fans who have stuck by me. Over the years, I’ve gone back and forth between art records and being in a band. This is a hybrid. What we’ve come up with is really heavy, slinky, and sexy. There’s a lot of fuzz. The best way to describe it is ‘Furry’.” I knew I wanted to make a rock record,” proclaims Weiland. “It all just came together.”
