After more than a quarter of a century making music together, QUEENSRŸCHE remains one of hard rock music's most ambitious groups.

Queensrÿche have always turned a blind eye to popular trends in music in favor of putting forth a steadily stream of insightful and thought-provoking albums.

The band had an underground cult status for a few years after forming in 1984 and signing with EMI Records, until they broke through to the mainstream with a landmark album called, Operation: Mindcrime.

That epic 1988 concept album redefined the parameters of progressive metal music at that time, along with reviving an expressive, story-telling art form that had been largely forgotten since the early 1970s hey day of groups like Alice Cooper and Pink Floyd.

"It's all right with me that Queensrÿche has largely stayed under the radar, so to speak, because it meant we could go about making the music we wanted to make," said lyricist, vocalist and band leader, Geoff Tate.

"I'd rather sell less copies of an album I enjoyed making and that I'm proud of, than selling millions of copies of an album I don't believe in."
