SIR CHRISTOPHER LEE - Screen Legend, Oldest Heavy Metal Star Dies At 93

Screen legend Sir Christopher Lee, famous for roles in Count Dracula, Lord Of The Rings and Star Wars has died at the age of 93 after being hospitalised for respiratory problems and heart failure.

As well as his career in film, Lee also released a series of heavy metal albums, including Charlemagne: By The Sword And The Cross and Charlemagne: The Omens Of Death. He also worked with Rhapsody Of Fire and Manowar, recording a new version of their first album, Battle Hymns.

In December 2012, he released an EP of heavy metal covers of Christmas songs called A Heavy Metal Christmas and a second in December 2013, called A Heavy Metal Christmas Too. “Jingle Hell” entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart at #22, Lee becoming the oldest living performer to ever enter the music charts, at 91 years and 6 months. Lee released a third EP of covers in May 2014 called Metal Knight

Sir Christopher Lee was knighted in 2009 for services to drama and charity and was awarded the Bafta fellowship in 2011.
