SLASH Talks New Album Title Living The Dream - "A Sarcastic Statement Towards Politics"

Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators will release their new album Living The Dream on September 21st via Slash's own label Snakepit Records, in partnership with Roadrunner Records.

While in New York City recently, Slash was interviewed by Hard Drive Radio, and asked about the second single from Living The Dream, a song called "Mind Your Manners". "There's not really much to tell," answered Slash. "When we first started, after a year and a half of being apart, you walk into the room... so we show up and plug in, what do you play first? Do we go back to one of the World On Fire songs, or something from Apocalyptic Love? So, I just made something up on the spot. We started jamming that and that's where 'Mind Your Manners' came from. Myles (Kennedy, vocalist) heard it after we'd sort of got the basic arrangement together and just automatically loved it and came up with the lyrics."

Slash was also questioned about the album title, Living The Dream. "It was more of a sarcastic statement towards domestic politics, and global politics really," was his reply. "There's a lot of shit going on! So, Living The Dream, I thought was a very apropos statement towards that. In all honesty, I don't like to advocate a lot of political points of view in the music in a rock and roll band. It seems like that's what I want to get away from. So, I don't like to go there, but this is one of those titles that you can take it for what it is."

Living The Dream is Slash’s fourth solo album, and third with Slash and his bandmates Myles Kennedy (Vocals), Brent Fitz (Drums), Todd Kerns (Bass & Vocals) and Frank Sidoris (Guitar & Vocals).
