An excerpt from D.X. Ferris’s new book, Slayer 66 2/3: The Dave & Jeff Years is now available on DeadRhetoric.com. The excerpt in question details the infamous Cushion Riot Show in 1988, where fans of Slayer ransacked the Felt Forum in New York City.

The full-length book features 59 chapters, 400 footnotes, three appendices (e-book, 2 in the paperback), 11 illustrations, and 33 photos by photographers including Harald Oimoen of Murder In The Front Row renown. Artwork includes Jeff Hanneman's stick-figure diagram for the Live Undead picture disc and lost sketches by Live Undead/Hell Awaits illustrator Albert Cuellar, who was later an integral part of the Museum Of Modern Art's third-most-popular exhibit ever. The paperback includes a full index.

Steven Blush, the author and filmmaker behind American Hardcore, writes: “D.X. Ferris' engrossing ‘Slayer 66 2/3: The Jeff And Dave Years’ tells the real story behind the greatest modern metal band's most crucial era. Enter to the realm of Satan!”

David Konow, author of “Reel Terror” and the metal history “Bang Your Head”, says: “The biography the band has always deserved… A book documenting the good, the bad, and the ugly without spin or sensationalism has been long overdue, and hats off to D.X. Ferris for getting it all down in this remarkable volume, which no SLAYER fan should be without.”

The timely book spans from the members' boyhood days to its just-wrapped old-school tour. It concludes with a photo taken November 20, 2013 at Pittsburgh's Stage AE.

Its full title is Slayer 66 & 2/3: The Jeff & Dave Years, A Metal Band Biography. From Birth To Reborn, Including Slaytanic Profiles, A New History Of The Thrash Metal Kings' Early Days, ‘Reign In Blood' Tours, A European Invasion, The Palladium Riot, The Seat Cushion Chaos Concert, The Whole Diabolical Discography, Newly Unearthed Details From Dave Lombardo's Turbulent History With The Band, Artwork And Photos You've Probably Never Seen Before, Jeff Hanneman's Hard Times, The Big Four's Big Year, Lombardo's Final Exit, The Top 11 Hanneman Tributes, The Mosh Memorial Service, Untold Stories, Updates, Relevant Digressions, And More Scenes From The Abyss.

The first six and a half chapters can be read at the Kindle book's Amazon.com page.

Author D.X. Ferris is an Ohio Society of Professional Journalists Reporter Of The Year. He began writing the project shortly after the band and drummer Dave Lombardo parted ways for the third time, in February 2013. After guitarist Jeff Hanneman's unexpected death in May 2013, it turned into a career-spanning look at the classic lineup's ups, downs, hiatuses, and final dissolution.

The book combines original interviews and extensive archival stories to reevaluate the band's early days, controversial episodes, Hanneman's untimely demise, and Lombardo's multiple splits with the group.

Both versions of the biography are available exclusively available via Amazon worldwide below:
