Slipknot guitarist Jim Root recently spoke with Metal Hammer UK at Rock On The Range 2015 in Columbus, OH. In the clip below he discusses songwriting and the possible musical direction of the band's next album.

Slipknot are streaming their fifth studio album .5: The Gray Chapter,  at this location. .5: The Gray Chapter was released on October 21st, 2014 via Roadrunner and is the band's first without founding bassist Paul Gray, who passed away in 2010, and drummer Joey Jordison.
