Ever since the band's gold-certified debut in 1998, Soulfly have become deadlier and more dangerous with each critically acclaimed successive release and their latest album, Savages, is no exception. Savages was produced by the world-renowned Terry Date, and is the first to feature Max Cavalera's 21-year-old son Zyon on drums. The artwork was created by artist Paul Stottler, who is best known for Sacred Reich’s legendary Surf Nicaragua cover. Guest vocal appearances on Savages include bass player Tony Campos, Max Cavalera's other son Igor Cavalera, Clutch’s Neil Fallon, Napalm Death’s Mitch Harris and Jamie Hanks of I Declare War.
Swedish metal eminence Soilwork were spawned in Helsingborg, in 1995. Following two highly acclaimed albums Steel Bath Suicide (1998) and The Chainheart Machine (1999) on Listenable Records, Soilwork joined the Nuclear Blast roster in 2001. The band’s unique blend of melodic metal developed at a staggering rate as they released a new bombshell each year; touring aggressively throughout North America, Europe, Australia, and Japan. Some of the highlights included Ozzfest alongside headliners Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden and an arena tour with Lamb Of God and Killswitch Engage. Their latest release, The Living Infinite, is the first double album in melodic death metal history! Adventurous yet true to the band’s identity, this Jens Bogren-produced, 20-song powerhouse is the ultimate proof that Soilwork are true masters of their art and as relevant as ever!
Formed in 1996, Polish technical death metal band Decapitated built a reputation over the years as one of the youngest leaders of their genre. In the past two decades, Decapitated has released five studio albums considered to be some of the most influential international death metal releases of the 21st century. For their sixth full-length record, Decapitated returned to Hertz Studio (located at Bialystok in their native Poland). Under the direction of Wojtek and Slawek Wiesawski, recording Blood Mantra proved to be an extremely demanding process: they cross-bred various styles and sounds, setting the highest bar possible for their new music. The result showcased various tempos, mixing elements of death metal with grindcore and displayed more groove-laden beats plus stoner-rock vibes along with their trademarked modern metal rhythmic riffs.
Victory Records’ Shattered Sun are poised to dominate the metal scene. The six-piece is a remarkable example of hard work and determination, coming a long way from their industrious origins. Shattered Sun reflect the roots of their influences amidst their vigorous Southern backdrop, slamming together into a sound that is Hope Within Hatred, their debut album out now via Victory Records. What sets Shattered Sun apart from the crowd is their lyrical content in a time where it seems most heavy music is about negativity and angst. Shattered Sun empower with their message of hope and positivity. Shattered Sun are currently wrapping up a successful U.S. run with thrash metal leaders Testament and Exodus, which has featured stops at Welcome To Rockville Festival and New England Metal & Hardcore Festival.
