Guitar legend Steve Vai has checked in with the following update:

"Hey Folks, Steve here,

At least once every 1-2 years Billy Sheehan, Greg Bissonette, Brett Tuggle and myself get together for some Indian food. We made up the nucleus of the David Lee Roth Band on the Eat 'Em And Smile tour.

Those days hold some of my fondest memories and meeting, playing and touring with these guys in the past has been a treasured life experience. We had absolutely the best time anyone can have on a tour and we love getting together and reminiscing. Total nostalgic hernia in between the naan and curry.
Whenever I’m with these guys it’s like a past family that is re-united. Unfortunately, Brett could not make this outing we had the other night but was toasted.

The power trio of the three of us in this photo was a dynamic force in the day and the energy level that came off the stage when we were in the zone was truly stuff that arena rock dreams are made of. 

I’m so deeply grateful to have these guys in my life then and now.

Make the best of every situation and you will enjoy and be grateful for it when remembering your past in the future, even though it all only happens in the now. Enjoy."

Vai recently checked in with the following announcement:

"Hey Folks, Steve here. We are thrilled to be posting The Space Between The Notes one leg at a time (nine in total) once a week over the next nine weeks, in full resolution! This bonus footage was culled from multiple sources including pics and vids from fans, band, crew, family, and myself. It’s a chronological video diary that has bits from each of the 253 engagements and 52 countries we visited on the last tour, The Story Of Light tour. It was a glorious life experience for us and we are stoked that we can present it here for you. Enjoy!"

Back in April, Vai released  a video for the song “The Story Of Light” from the Stillness In Motion DVD. This selection opens The Space Between The Notes – a fascinating tour diary and video montage of life on the road with Vai and the band.

Vai states: “This is the piece that took the most time and the one I’m most happy with.”

The double album and DVD, was released April 7 through Sony Music Entertainment and Legacy Recordings, were recorded October 12, 2012, at L.A.’s Club Nokia. It was the 49th show from Vai’s Story of Light World Tour.
