SURVIVOR Vocalist JIMI JAMISON Passes Away "We are saddened and heartbroken to announce the passing of a great musician, loving father and grandfather, and overall extraordinary, giving, and kindhearted human being. He's loved by so many, most of all his family, and he will be incredibly missed by all. Please keep his family in your prayers, and please give them the privacy they need during this extremely difficult time. Thank you all for your condolences and kind words," reads a post on Survivor vocalist Jimi Jamison's Facebook page.

Survivor added the following via the band's Facebook page: "The entire Survivor family is very shocked and saddened by the passing of our brother Jimi Jamison. Our thoughts, love and prayers go out to his family and friends."

Sasha Goldstein of NY Daily News reports: Jimi Jamison, the lead singer of arena rock band Survivor, has died of a heart attack at age 63, according to the band.

Though he joined after the band’s biggest hit, “Eye Of The Tiger”, was released, Jamison spent years as the main vocalist for the pop rockers after joining in 1984 and had even performed Saturday night (August 30th) in Morgan, CA, south of the Bay Area.

His booking agent confirmed to TMZ the singer died sometime Sunday night. Jamison was found dead at his home in Memphis, Tenn., by his son around 1 a.m. Monday, WMC-TV reported.

"Jimi was a friend to everyone he met. He was a loving father and grandfather and was always a person who valued people more than anything else,” family attorney Jeff Ward said in a statement to the TV station. “The family has asked for privacy during this extremely difficult time. In lieu of any demonstrations of sympathy, the family has requested that donations be made to Jimi's favorite charity, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital."
