UNISONIC Vocalist Michael Kiske - "A Few Years Ago I Never Imagined That I Would Do Something Like This"

Unisonic frontman Michael Kiske (Helloween) and bassist Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69) recently spoke with Spain's La Heavy Magazine about their new album, Light Of Dawn. An excerpt from the English translation found on facebook is available below:

Q: Songs like "Your Time Has Come" or "For The Kingdom" give the impression that this album is like Helloween power metal or Gamma Ray, at leat a lot faster than its predecessor. What do you think about it?

Dennis: "I agree! It’s Michael's fault, because if he hadn’t sung like this, I wouldn’t compose in such way (laughs)."

Michael: "I told Dennis there are some epic melodies which are better for me, and my voice fits very well. So he started to listen everything I has done in my career; and he found out what I was talking about."

Dennis: "I tried not to keep hits such as 'Future World' but the ones I really thought that made him shine, whether was Helloween, his solo albums or Avantasia."

Q: Michael, your activity in Avantasia has helped you to get you back again in power metal dynamics?

Michael: "Sure. Touring with them especially has been very important to me."

Q: Do you feel more comfortable with metal than few years ago?

Michael: "A few years ago I never imagined that I would do something like this. It just came and you know, never say never. I was surprised myself to sing songs like this again, but this is the kind of songs which made me a name."
