Historic Films Archive has uploaded classic footage of VAN HALEN, OZZY OSBOURNE, QUIET RIOT and JOE WALSH from the famous US Festival at Glen Helen Regional Park near Devore, San Bernardino, California from May 28th-May 30th, 1983.
This past May 29th was the 30th anniversary of the US Festival. Spearheaded by Apple Computer co-founder Steve Wozniak, the US Festival intended to be a celebration of technology and culture, with a temporary stage and open-air venue paid for by Wozniak himself just for the purposes of the festival. The event featured Heavy Metal Day on on May 29, 1983 with the following stellar line-up: MÖTLEY CRÜE, QUIET RIOT, OZZY OSBOURNE, JUDAS PRIEST, TRIUMPH, SCORPIONS and VAN HALEN.
"It was the day new wave died and rock n' roll took over," Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil said regarding the overwhelming attendance on Heavy Metal Day, which set the single-day concert attendance record for the US with an estimated 375,000 people.
