ABHORRENT DEFORMITY - Entity Of Malevolence

North Carolina's Abhorrent Deformity lay down death metal with a decent amount of authority on Entity Of Malevolence, considering it's their debut. The band skirt through traditional DM, grinding gore-infused death, and a slight feel of slam/deathcore but, wait, don't leave yet, I'm thinking more like early-era Dying Fetus, so still totally extreme.
Under no circumstance could I identify this band if it came on a random iTunes shuffle during a metal night with the pals, and that lack of personality makes it hard to fully embrace and warm up to, but taken on a track-by-track basis, it's hard to find fault: check out cool closer "Casket Maker" for a good example of everything this band is capable of, taking tempos fast and slow and totally demolishing everything along the way. I'll never listen to it again, but I approve and will keep the name (if I can remember it, which I can't) in my list of "don't forget 'em" death metal bands to check out next go-'round. So, yeah, totally admirable, musically without flaw, the band just needs to work on creating something that's their own for album number two.
