ARBITRATOR - Indoctrination Of Sacrilege

Though the following might sound hyperbolic, that's not its intent: man, the level of professionalism that current technology has afforded even unsigned bands is stunning, as groups with no label support are recording albums, like this one, that sound like they've got major-indie budgets attached to them. Arbitrator, from Calgary, also has a second ace (of spades) up its sleeve, as Soilwork drummer Dirk Verbeuren performs on all of Indoctrination Of Sacrilege, indicating the ambition of this group's principal members.

Arbitrator's professionalism can't be overstated, the band writing with maturity and polished sheen, these songs a stuck-in-the-middle-with-you amalgam of latter-day Obituary and Demanufacture-era Fear Factory, as the brutality of the former is counteracted, and complemented, by the technological leanings of the latter. Which doesn't even take into account the sudden epic spaces and places that make themselves known, without warning, to grand effect all over this effort. Indoctrination Of Sacrilege is the album that would make the entirety of Samael's divided fanbase happy if those Swiss guys had written it, these slickly precise, aggressively effective and slightly industrial songs speaking volumes, literally.
