BLACK WITCHERY/REVENGE - Holocaustic Death March To Humanity's Doom

I love a good split EP, and I love good raw bestial black madness, so, sign me up for this split with Florida's Black Witchery and Edmonton's Revenge, two of the finest in the freaky business of outrageously raw black metal of various types. Black Witchery just goes hard and fast, the sound basically a chainsaw, the treble taking over, everything just mushing together into a glorious noise. It's the kind of black metal I can get behind: throw me a keyboard-laden symphony and I just pass out I'm so bored, but give me three songs (that sound totally identical, natch) of this racket, and I eat it up.

Revenge belch forth a more barbaric, war-ridden take here, offering up an original and a Bathory cover ("Equimanthorn"); Revenge's sound is more, well, "sophisticated" or "mature" than Black Witchery's, in that there is actually some nuance, but it's basically the difference between the lugnut beating the crap out of you in the alley having blond hair or dusty blond hair, I guess. End result is still a lot of blasting noise, guttural chaos (the vocals are pure gore-grind at times), and rickety war metal. It kills, the two bands complementing each others' sounds perfectly.
