BLAZON STONE - No Sign Of Glory

Making a splash with a no nonsense aping of classic Running Wild, the one man band has expanded to a full line-up, although the new singer (purposefully well down in the mix) isn't nearly as convincing a vocal doppelganger for Rock N Rolf Kasparek. Eight proper tracks, after the “Declaration Of War” intro, musically any fan of the reunited/long running (wild) German outfit will find much to their liking: quick, galloping anthems, plenty of guitars and authentic timbre.

However, the aforementioned vocals are the weak link, unlike the superior Return To Port Royal debut. After the Giant X side project and Shadowmaker album, Karparek refocused his bandmates towards a more retro leaning sound, thus the thrill of a copycat artist has lost much of its initial luster. A fun listen nevertheless, but the original is still the best!
