BONE GNAWER - Cannibal Crematorium

I'm a pretty easy guy to please, so when I see the words "Kam" and "Lee" in a band's bio, I feel happy. The day's stresses slip away, and I know that soon I'll be listening to some predictably solid death metal. Here, Lee hooks up with a couple dudes from Sweden and lays down the death that makes up Bone Gnawer's second album, and, yup, it's predictable, and I'm happy.

And although the sound is firmly rooted in Floridian bass-drenched DM, the death threatens to get a bit razor-wire Swedish black/thrash sharp now and again, which makes for a nice bit of lively variety (and makes sense: one of the other Bone Gnawers used to play in Naglfar). But it rarely lasts, and the sounds get dragged back down to the swamps, Lee at this point in his lengthy death metal career knowing exactly what he's doing, Bone Gnawer doing exactly what they should, everything is as it should be in the world, there's a song here called "Below A Murder Of Carrion Crows", everyone's happy.
