DARKANE - Insanity

Firstly, it must be mentioned that Insanity does not feature the Darkane that we came to know via 1998's Rusted Angel. This new incarnation of Darkane is back with a brand-new vocalist, and a slightly toned-down sound. Gone (mostly) are the intense choir passages from previous releases; however, they are thankfully replaced by an appealing guitar-centric approach. Sounding like latter-day The Haunted and Carnal Forge, Darkane has managed to deliver a record that breaks out of the usual Swedish mold, and is able to stand up as musical entity rather than merely a product of a country. Licensed by Century Media from War Music in North America, Darkane's accessibility is bound to increase, as is its fanbase. Satisfying metal. What more can one ask for?
