DOGMA/CORRUPT LEADERS - Split

Quick and dirty little split here, Indiana's Dogma leading the charge with three songs of unsatisfyingly lo-fi punk/crust/hardcore. The spirit's there, but that's about it, 'Patterns' being a highlight with its raw energy and d-beat tempo, but these songs just skitter right on past without leaving much of an impression, mainly due to that lackluster production sound. Canucks Corrupt Leaders step up the production and the energy levels on their two tunes, things immediately picking up with the d-beat-drenched 'Untitled', the bass-heavy hardcore/crust proving itself to be a timeless sound, one that always threatens to get played out but never quite gets there. Corrupt Leaders rule all over this split, the fuzzed-out tones and bellowed barks hitting the spot, and the final apocalyptic tones of 'Wolf' making you wonder if these guys aren't Canada's little-bro version of Tragedy. And then it's all over, in typical crust-punk fashion, in the time it takes to walk from one side of the squat to the other in search of some clean TP.
