EVIL INVADERS - Pules Of Pleasure

Be careful driving while listening to Pulses Of Pleasure, as a speeding ticket is just waiting to happen! Belgian old-school metalers Evil Invaders will satisfy your craving for speed on its debut full-length release. On its nine spine-tingling tracks, the band serves up a heavy dose of ’80s speed metal, Bay Area thrash and NWOBHM, most likely influenced by early-era Metallica, Death Angel, Exciter and Iron Maiden, to name a few. “Fast, Loud ’n’ Rude” is an explosive, demon on wheels of an opening track if there ever was one. It boasts a taut rhythm section, blazing, twin guitar leads and banshee shrieks in the vein of Steve “Zetro” Souza (Exodus), Dan Beehler (Exciter) and John Gallagher (Raven).

Joe’s nasally vocals may take a while to warm up to, but they totally fit in with the Bay Area thrash vibe the band is peddling. Most fans would be hard-pressed to deny the obvious Maiden worship on “Stairway To Insanity”. And what about the “The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner” homage at the beginning of instrumental “Blinded”? This is followed by the mid-paced Maiden gallop of CD-closer “Master Of Illusion”. Yep, Evil Invaders loves Maiden. But they aren’t just mimicking them to the point of being clones, they also add their own interpretation to each track. Damn, Pulses Of Pleasure is pretty tasty.
