FIREBIRD - Firebird

Bill Steer, the legendary guitarist from Carcass and before that Napalm Death, has emerged from obscurity with an altogether different sound in Firebird. Accompanying Steer on this retro rock trip are Leo Smee from Cathedral on bass/organ and Ludwig Witt of Spiritual Beggars on drums. If you're looking for the next level of grind, look elsewhere. Firebird harken back to the classic '60s/'70s era ruled by Hendrix, Cream and Grand Funk Railroad. Bluesy and full of beautiful groove, Firebird fly way above the heads of today's stoner bands. And who knew that Steer had such a warm, appealing voice!?! Certainly the Carcass kids will cry foul but Bill will gain an even greater number of new fans that will be shocked to learn of his past. 'Crepitating Bowl Erosion' has been replaced by the 'Fat Cat Groan'.
