FOUL BODY AUTOPSY - Perpetuated By Greed

I'm always very skeptical when it comes to solo projects. How can it possibly have the same chemistry, the same fun mix of different personalities, as a regular band? But I'm sure most of that is mind over matter, as I was a solid song into this cool grinding EP from the UK's Foul Body Autopsy before I clued in to the fact that this is one dude, and not a band. So there you have it: I'm wrong, and it probably makes no difference. And indeed, this is good stuff, these six songs grinding past with a big thick sound, and while there always threatens to be a sudden shift towards groove or deathcore, it doesn't come, and the songs stick to a death metal that is a bit guttural, a bit technical, and a bit old-school in delivery, although not without moments of Dying Fetusian grinding thrown in.
It's a refreshing 12 minutes, and while it's not full of personality, it's got a bit: there's a slim chance if this came on random I might guess it was this band... er, guy. (If I could remember the name, that is, which I can't.) Not bad at all, makes me wonder about the full-length that came out three years ago, which is probably worth at least a listen, as is whatever this guy gets up to next.
