FU MANCHU - We Must Obey

Can hardly believe that We Must Obey is the tenth release from So-Cal’s Fu Manchu. Over the years they have been lumped in with stoner, sludge, doom, punk, and retro-classic rock genres, but really all along what they have done is develop a style all their own. In fact, so much so that a ton of bands over the last five years have cloned but not recreated this unique style. So on We Must Obey, their debut with the Century Media folks, they do not abandon a single attribute of their style, coming up with crushing riffs, gruff vocals and pardon the cliché, an album truly meant to be played loud. In true Fu Manchu style there’s an off the wall cover tune - betcha never heard The Cars’ ‘Moving In Stereo’ like this before! From start to finish this is raunchy, raucous stuff that evokes memories of a bar band crushing out tune after tune in a beer and peanut shell-encrusted establishment. So put away the good furniture, roll up the carpet, roll out the keg and pork ribs and get ready to do the Fu Manchu. Loudly, if you please.
