HATESPHERE - Bloodred Hatred

Hatesphere plays competent, if uneventful, riffy melodic death metal. Sophomore effort Bloodred Hatred is a record that shows immeasurable promise, but muddy production creates a sludge-fest foundation for the band's super-precise, thrash songwriting: doesn't producer Tommy Hansen know that clarity and treble is the proper way to articulate the thrash sound? Some of these tracks seriously rock ('Plague', 'Hell Is Here'), but this all would have turned my crank much more if the guitars were higher and sharper in the mix.
