IRON CURTAIN - Guilty As Charged

(Pure Steel)
Third album from young, traditional minded Spanish speedsters. The Anglo lyrics are mostly free of any heavy accent. Comparisons mention the original Tank, down to their gritty heavy metal, occasionally verging on speed, but then there's the slower Motorhead paean “Relentless”. Flashy, twin guitars (“Lion's Breath”), clickety-clack drums/gang chorus vocals (“Take It Back”) and sped up, Iron Maiden homage (or is it Talas' “Shy Boy” at 45rpm), in the form of “Iron Price” are all part of the charm.
“Outlaw” (predominance of the lyrics!) is simple but effective, while first single “Wild & Rebel” lays down a screaming guitar run before there's any vocals. Tolling church bells introduce the title track, which features an aggressive guitar break, right before the close. The “Turn The Hell On” finale is the stylistic outlier, a more upbeat, bluesy, rock n roll anthem. Fun, bar band. One to watch.
