LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE - Fall, I Will Follow

This German gothic metal band embodied quite the appeal with their last two releases, almost displaying themselves as Germany's answer to Anathema without the layers of cheese that can be found within 99% of said gothic metal scene. I guess the more "urban" approach (the album cover and artwork says it all) with Fall, I Will Follow was expected, the band opting to take the more darkened "rock" approach, akin to what My Dying Bride did with that 34.788% album (although not as experimental), what Anathema dish out today (not as dreamy or memorable) and what Sentenced are doing (not as blunt). It could have been worse, but somehow that appeal is still there, given the band's good production and the basic hard-driven song writing. At least it's better than the garbage that To Die For or Tiamat belch out.
