LETHAL SAINT – WWIII

You wouldn’t think there would be much metal found from Cyprus, the island country on the shores of the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, but that is precisely where Lethal Saint hails from and Pure Steel has a knack for picking off these heavy/speed metal bands from off the radar and adding them to the fold. What you see is what you get with this one, nothing extraordinary, but not bad either.
Andreas Pugioukas sports a very aggressive, tough vocal presence and is a perfect fit for spitting rhymes about society and corruption. The buzzy guitar tone throughout the album is little off-putting, but that is just a minor issue The standout track is “Thorns Of Existence”, which is more in the thrash vein and has fluid guitar parts and a menacing chorus. The title track is a pure stomper that gets the head cranking as any respectful metal anthem should. As for the rest of WWIII, it’s just good ole' heavy metal, but nothing that is going to cause a nuclear holocaust. There are solid riffs aplenty, good drumming and so forth, but it’s missing those moments that demand another listen.
