LETHAL STEEL - Legion Of The Night

Little doubt why this niche German label picked up the debut from Sweden's Lethal Steel, as the music is decidedly old school. A little heavier than most retro leaning acts, sort of like (now defunct) countrymen In Solitude mixed with Enforcer. At times, singer Viktor Gustafsson sounds a bit like Paul Stanley.

The “Sirius” opener walks a decidedly NWOBHM line, but from there on, the hues are occult tinted. A slower, more meandering “Night Of The Witch” gives the vocalist a chance to showcase his chops, as well as guitarist, during a speedy break. Speaking of quick movers, “Into The Void Of Lucifer” deserves a speeding ticket, with Gustafsson letting out a piercing climactic scream. Follow-up “Nocturnal Seductress” whizzes by on a flurry of simple, infectious riffs. Another great addition to the herd of younger acts capturing vintage sounds. More please!
