MORBID EVILS - In Hate With The Burning World

Here's one for those who hate enjoying good music, Morbid Evil's old-school sludge/doom crawling out of the garage (barely, as that rag-tag production loudly and proudly attests) here on their debut with a vinyl copy of Cry Now Cry Later Vol. 2 clutched to its tar-drenched embodiment of what horrible music like this sounds like, which is basically a huge, dark blob of antagonism personified. Make it through these six songs (44 minutes) and the blob will knock you out, steal your Noothgrush demos, and just keep kicking you when you're down, which is what happens here: opener "Cruel" is eight minutes of some of the heaviest sludge you've heard in years, and "Crippled" follows it up with seven more minutes of some of the heaviest sludge you've heard in years.

It's almost hilarious: each song begins and it's just as slow as the last, the band fully obsessed with slow and heavy and raw and this one bludgeoning sonic over and over and over again. Features someone from Rotten Sound, which seems surprising at first but then maybe it makes sense: life in that ultra-fast lane might require some extreme decompression in the other direction, these six therapy sessions in particular taking things so far that way they're basically crawling in reverse down the highway.
