OBEY THE BRAVE - Salvation

The smartest thing Obey The Brave has done in its three year existence is readily acknowledge that its sound is no reinvention.  Though it plays metalcore without deviation, Obey The Brave - featuring Alex Erian of Despised Icon (and, in another life, Neuraxis) - executes the style well and smartly, Salvation a record that is entirely filled with expertly written tracks that fulfill their mandate in precise ways. One senses that, on this second album, Obey The Brave understands who it is and what it wants more fully, and that has led to an effort that is honest, determined, sincere and executed in ways that so many metalcore bands have been unable to capture with this much verve. It must also be mentioned that, in contrast to the ultra-positivity of debut album, Salvation deals with life as it comes: through negative and positive, with the universe constantly seeking balance, moment by moment. Who knew metalcore could get this existential?
