ROB ZOMBIE – Spookshow International Live

While it’s technically true that this is the first live album from Rob Zombie in eight years, he released a live DVD / Blu-ray, The Zombie Horror Picture Show, just last year with a very similar set list. That being said, Spookshow International Live was recorded at various venues across The United States during the 2014 tour, but no specifics as to cities or stadiums are provided. However, it is certified “100% live. No fixes, no overdubs.”

Admittedly, the inclusion of a drum solo by Ginger Fish after just four songs seems rather puzzling, yet it’s kept to a mere 72 seconds and leads quite nicely into “More Human Than Human”. All the hits are played, each one full of passion, but the real treat here – and unavailable elsewhere – is a cover of “Blitzkrieg Bop” by The Ramones. While Zombie doesn’t say a lot between songs, his brief introduction to “Pussy Liquor” is beautifully succinct, “Gentlemen, this one’s for the ladies, but it’s actually for you.” Although the accompanying booklet is only eight pages, it features some really cool black and white photos.
