ROB ZOMBIE - The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser

There’s a lot to love – and a lot to find infuriating – about Rob Zombie’s sixth solo album. He wasn’t kidding when he said, “It’s the most fucked up thing we’ve ever done.” First off, the title is ludicrous – The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser – care to share what you’re smoking Rob? With the exception of drawn out, fade away closing track “Wurdalak”, none of the songs hit the three-minute mark. Simply put, these diabolical tunes are too damn short. Total running time is 31 minutes; however “The Last Of The Demons Defeated” is nothing more than an introduction. Similarly, “A Hearse That Overturns With The Coffin Bursting Open”, and “Super Doom Hex Gloom Part One” are both mere interludes.

Upon initially hearing leadoff single “Well, Everybody’s Fucking In A U.F.O.”, impressions were lukewarm. It’s since turned into one of those nasty earworms constantly writhing around the old cranium. “The Life And Times Of A Teenage Rock God” is intoxicating, and the first of a few gems perfectly designed to satisfy sweaty stadium audiences. Although, John 5’s guitar solo doesn’t quite hit the mark as he opts for something more laid back, as opposed to the expected soaring shred-fest of notes. “The Hideous Exhibitions Of A Dedicated Gore Whore” is hands down the best of the bunch, crank this sucker loud! “In The Age Of The Consecrated Vampire We All Get High” is a prime example of why Zombie fans keep coming back for more. “In The Bone Pile” is rugged and aggressive, just what the rotten freak ordered. Must commend Rob for writing about Frank, Alice, and the chicken in Toronto, during the first verse of “Get Your Boots On That’s The End Of Rock And Roll”. Those who get it will appreciate it, and to everyone else… you’ve got your homework assignment. Of course the album is full of sampled dialogue, soundtrack bits, and it’s definitely NSFW.
