SOULS OF TIDE - Join The Circus

Norwegian sextet, Souls Of Tide, has cultivated the perfect hybrid of ’70s rock, bluesy jams and a twist of modern-day hard rock on its debut full-length release, Join The Circus. The album reeks of old school prog/classic rock with roots in bands such as Deep Purple, Rainbow and Santana, while also delving into the retro-rock genre which includes acts such as Rival Sons and Scorpion Child. The nine zesty tunes are built from the ground up, full of catchy choruses, heavy, bottom-end rhythms decorated with rambunctious Hammond organ accents and vibrant vocals. Vegar Larsen’s range is on the high end with a bit of zesty soul in the mid-range.

The band’s sound is infectious enough to grab your attention from the opener, “She’s Dead,” by combining old and new influences quite enjoyably. The album goes from strength to strength and by track 6, “Easy Love,” as well as the following track “Faith,” it’s easy to confirm that Souls Of Tide has a great grasp on this genre of music. Join The Circus can best be described as a collection of songs with old school influences, wrapped in a modern-day rock package. If you’re a fan of this genre, then you should become familiar with Souls Of Tide!
