TALAMYUS - Raven's Call To Annihilation

Canada's answer to AMON AMARTH has always been supremely underrated, and Raven's Call To Annihilation continues TALAMYUS' quest for Thor's hammer-like domination of viking metal and all its various travels to Valhalla. Also inspired by the likes of KREATOR and early MEGADETH, Talamyus is able to capture the Nordic sensibilities that make viking metal such a regional experience, though the winter connection shared by Stockholm and Montreal makes residents of both cities sensitive and sensible to the same inspiring weather patterns (i.e. lots of darkness, plenty of wind chill). Raven's Call To Annihilation's main strength is in the quality of the song-writing, these tracks international in scope and clamouring for the kind of die-hard audiences worldwide that will never leave our cause; the record's two instrumentals, 'Inner Turmoil' and 'The Curse', are the sorts of hymns that belong on tape-traded compilations for the discerning or, at the very least, in the summit segments of metal documentaries. 'The Dead Will Walk The Earth' and Raven's Call To Annihilation's title track are equally stirring, the songs a real encapsulation of what brothers Benoit and Dany St-Jean are capable of on good ship Talamyus.
