TERRÖRHAMMER - Under The Unholy Command

I always appreciate some tongue-in-cheek humour with my raging blackthrash, and these Serbian thrashers give it to me, reminding of speed metal jokesters Cranium with both the song titles and the music itself, which is great to hear. Firmly rooted in the most extreme of early speed and thrash bands, Terrörhammer throw in a large dash of Motörhead lovin', Hellhammer-worshippin', and Gehenna-peer-in' blackened thrash 'n' roll to the mix, songs like the awesome “Necro Speed Megalomania” raging hard and fast but also memorable and fun. And there's a good healthy love of the wildest of Germanic thrash, cuts like “Hell Commando” sounding like the wildest demos from one of the big three from over there.

Love the production they've got happening here, punchy but also with enough of a natural sound to make sense for a band of this nature. Man, this is one enjoyable disc, the 36 minutes flying past and leaving me thinking I'll definitely throw this on some time as the soundtrack to throwing back a few dark drinks when I need some apocalyptic d-beat deathpünk to get me through the night, but one that can have a good laugh instead of just hammering the end time message over my head until I weep myself to sleep.
