TODD KERNS - Bootleg Confessional : Live In Vegas

Recorded live at Count’s Vamp’d in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 2nd 2013, Bootleg Confessional captures the second acoustic show in support of Borrowing Trouble – the superb solo album from Todd Kerns (Slash, Sin City Sinners). The 17 and 1/2 song set begins with Todd taking the stage completely alone – just a man with his guitar and a microphone. It doesn’t get any rawer or more stripped down than this. After a handful of audience pleasing tunes, Todd picks up the ukulele and is joined by fellow Sinner Doc Ellis for a partial run through of Pete Townshend’s “Let My Love Open The Door” – yes, the song from the 1989 movie Look Who’s Talking, starring John Travolta and Kirstie Alley. This morphs into the Kerns original “So Scandalous” and is followed by a heart-warming version of “Wicked Game” by Chris Isaak. Then another Sinner, Zachary Throne, and Cian Coey (Meat Loaf) hop on stage for “Nothing Personal” and “This Changes Everything”. As the guest musicians depart, Todd offers up three more numbers entirely on his own, including “The One” - a song that has never been performed, recorded or released before or since; it’s exclusive to Bootleg Confessional. Co-Conspirators Brent Fitz and Frank Sidoris lend a hand on two classic covers: “We Are The Champions” by Queen and “Stairway To Heaven” by Led Zeppelin. Hearing such anthems performed in a casually intimate club environment really is a treat. After “It’s Not You It’s Me”, the magical night unfortunately comes to a close, once again with the assistance of Zachary Throne, on a humble rendition of David Bowie’s “Space Oddidty”. Sadly, Bootleg Confessional is only available as a digital download via Pledge Music. No CDs, cassettes or vinyl were manufactured. However, a portion of all proceeds will be donated to cancer research; a cause near and dear to Todd.
