WINTER OF APOKALYPSE - Solitary Winter Night

Those in the black metal underground will remember US black metal heavies Thy Infernal who released two outrageously OTT albums in '99 and '01 (Satan's Wrath and Warlords of Hell respectively). Sadly the unit folded in 2002, but 2005 finds the core (bassist/vocalist Armageddon and guitarist Slut) reunited under a new, necro calling card - Winter of Apokalypse. Not surprisingly, WOA doesn't tread far off the path blazed by their previous unit. Armageddon still growls out some of the most depraved zombie vox going and the music rages furiously in apocalyptic glee. However, whereas TI was very much focused on bringing the headbang to the genre, WOA take their bullet belts and studs into the forest, adding traditional black metal frigidness to the mix with glorious results. One listen to such head-removing material as 'Storming The Gates Of Heaven' and 'Infernal Pact' with its marriage of guitar melody and vicious rhythmic attack will have fans of violent black metal salivating and raising the goat horns in submission. 35 minutes of "pure fucking Satanic black metal" hell awaits those who choose to immerse themselves in this unforgettable debut.
