hot flashes news adrift

Tampa, Florida's ADRIFT (featuring Jack Owen of DECIDE, ex-CANNIBAL CORPSE) have issued the following update from drummer Kevin D. Astl:

"Hello, all!

Kevin from Adrift here. Just a quick update to let you know how the mix of our full length album, Absolution, is going. We are currently at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford Florida with Mark Lewis, head engineer at Audiohammer. Mark has mixed some pretty big records with Jason Suecof...anybody ever hear of Trivium? Bury Your Dead? Autumn Offering? Yeah, I thought so.

Anyway, Mark is doing a bang up job on the mix, spending a lot of time on details, compelling effects, and really pro vocal treatments, etc....it sounds so huge, this mix really "moves," if you know what I mean. If you are a band with some substantial financial resources, I urge you to seriously consider using Mark, his talents are evident, he's a hard worker and cares about the music he produces/mixes, and he has "the ear."

If you are a music lover, as I am, then Mark's true talent is keeping the life and breath in the music. The Adrift record is a challenging mix task because we have so many vast influences coming together in our music...it's heavy, it's emotional, it's dark and moody, it's not "straightforward," "metal," any type of "core" or typical at all. The material on this record demonstrates what this band is capable of, and marks (no pun intended) the first album of material we have written completely with the current lineup. We all contribute to songwriting and arrangement, and we are constantly re-evaluating the songs to make sure they are the best they can be, and that we get the right vibe and feel out of them.

Bottom line, this record will sound great. We hope all of you who hear it will enjoy it and will take from it some emotion personal to you.

Until next time, have fun and be safe. Listen back, we may post a snippet or a teaser for your listening pleasure."
