As previously reported, Anvil's star is still shining bright as the documentary Anvil! The Story Of Anvil was screened for a sold out crowd at New York City's Blender Theater on Monday, April 6. The screening was followed by a raucous performance by the Canadian metal gods themselves and there was plenty of star power at the show and meet and greeet afterwards.
Watching the film and concert and hanging in the Blender Theater lounge were Dee Snider and Jay Jay French of TWISTED SISTER; Frank Bello of ANTHRAX; ANDREW W.K.; David Shaw, George Giannoulis and Erik Fehrenbach of DAVID SHAW & THE ROUND TRIP as well as hosts of VH! Classic's "That Metal Show," Jim Florentine and Don Jamison.
Lips, Robb Reiner and G5 of Anvil spent time with all their fans, posing for photos and signing autographs.
Reiner reminisced with Shaw about Anvil's 1983 tour with AEROSMITH that brought the band to the legendary and long since defunct Calderone Concert Hall in Hempstead, New York.
"That was an unbelievable show," said Shaw. "And it was really inspirational."Fans in attendance during the documentary screening and subsequent performance were in high spirits. Thunderous applause broke out several times during the film and fans stormed the stage during the live performance as Anvil rocked a short set that included 'This Is Thirteen', '666' and, of course, 'Metal On Metal'.
