ANVIL, RUSH, TRIUMPH, STYX Members Step Up To Assist GODDO Legend In Helping B.C. Flood Victims

Record-breaking precipitation has drenched the province of British Columbia (Canada) in recent weeks, and Greg Godovitz - leader of Canadian rock legends Goddo - has joined GlobalMedic's charitable fundraising campaign for the flood victims.

FYI Music News reports that when Godovitz saw the TV images of the devastation, he decided he needed to offer a helping hand.

“I went into the basement and pulled out a Fender F36 acoustic guitar that I have in my collection and decided I was going to auction it off as a way to do something for all those poor people who have lost so much.”

He contacted GlobalMedic, which has set up a charitable fundraising campaign for the BC flood victims and then put the call out to friends and peers in music to sign the Fender which is going up for auction on December 11.

Musical associates have been quick to respond. So far, he has signatures on the guitar’s body from Ronnie Hawkins, Gordon Lightfoot, Murray McLauchlan, David Clayton Thomas, Larry Gowan (Styx), Triumph's Gil Moore, Mike Levine and Rik Emmett, Kris Kristofferson, Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee (Rush), Anvil's Steve "Lips" Kudlow, Robb Reiner, and Chris Robertson, Eddie Kramer, members of Blue Rodeo, Kim Mitchell, and more.

Greg Godovitz wants to hear from more artists who would like to contribute a signature or make a pledge. Write Greg at rocktalk@shaw.ca, or personal message him on Facebook.
