CONQUEST OF STEEL’s drummer Chris ’The Destroyer’ Mills broke his wrist at the DOD Festival in Ireland. A statement on the matter follows:

"After putting in yet another larger then life heavy metal performance at DOD, the band set about drinking as much of the local ale as they could get their hands on. Unfortunately a drunken wrestling competition led to The Destroyer falling and landing heavily on his wrist. A trip to the local A&E; confirmed the bands worst fears – the wrist was broken and surgery would be needed to repair the damage. We are however happy to report that following surgery The Destroyer is now on the mend and should be back in action later in the year.

In the mean time long time friend of the band John Savage will be stepping up to the drum stool and standing in for The Destroyer on all the upcoming gigs. Conquest Of Steel would like to thank all at DOD who dealt with this emergency in such a professional manner, and of course Mr. Savage for his commitment to the Steel.

This incident follows the breaking of bassist Vic Victory’s collar bone in an unrelated event. Vic is now well on his way to recovery and despite missing a handful of gigs is now playing with the Steel again despite the distinct possibility of surgery being needed to repair the long term damage to his collar bone.

Hopefully this will be the end of injuries for Conquest of Steel this year. But let it be known that not even broken bones will stop a Heavy Metal band in full flight. Conquest of Steel will continue to battle onwards for Metal regardless of any setbacks."

UK-based Conquest Of Steel recently released their second album Hammer And Fist. For more information visit www.conquestofsteel.co.uk.
