As previously reported, progressive metal unit CYNIC has announced North American tour dates in support of its new album, Traced in Air. The forward thinking band will team up with Sweden’s MESHUGGAH for a seventeen city trek that will kick off on February 1 at the House of Blues in Anaheim, CA.

Traced in Air reunites the prodigious Cynic team of guitarist Paul Masvidal - respected worldwide as one of progressive rock’s most innovative players - and major-league drummer Sean Reinert. Produced by Grammy-winner Warren Riker (DOWN, SANTANA, THE FUGEES), "Traced in Air not only stands up to CYNIC’s masterful debut, it pushes the band’s unequaled style and sound - a seamless meshing of traditional metal structure with both jazz and fusion - into altogether new realms," according to a press release.

On the topic of the upcoming tour, Masvidal comments, “It's been 15 linear years since we've performed on these shores and now the time has come! We're ecstatic to share the stage with Meshuggah, and to reconnect with old and new members of Cynic's extended family of fans. The vibratory level has been raised and a new chapter has been written. Let the celestial voyage begin and see you on the road my friends!”

With the upcoming tour, Cynic will continue to prove to music fans that there is little to none of its recorded output that the band cannot re-create in a live setting. A taste of what to expect can be experienced now as the new Cynic song “Integral Birth” has been posted online at this location.

In addition to Masvidal and Reinert, Cynic features bassist Sean Malone, guitarist / vocalist Tymon Kruidenier and live bassist Robin Zielhorst.
