DAVID LEE ROTH - New Year's Eve & New Year's Day Shows Cancelled
December 30, 2021, 2 years ago
Iconic Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth had been scheduled to play a pair of sold out solo shows at House Of Blues inside Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 31st and January 1st.
The HOB website now lists both shows as cancelled. Kristen DeSilva of FOX 5 KVVU-TV obtained the following statement:
"Due to unforeseen circumstances related to COVID and out of an abundance of caution for those working and attending the shows, the David Lee Roth performances scheduled for Dec. 31, 2021 and Jan. 1, 2022 have been cancelled. Refunds will be automatically processed, and ticketholders will be notified directly."
The December 31st and January 1st shows were the first two nights of a nine-date farewell residency for David Lee Roth at House Of Blues Vegas. He's next scheduled to perform at HOB on January 5th; currently that show will go ahead as planned.
Speaking with the The Las Vegas Review Journal, Roth announced his retirement in a feature published on October 1.
Roth: "I'm retiring. This is the first, and only, official announcement. You've got the news. Share it with the world. "I'm not going to explain the statement. The explanation is in a safe. These are my last five shows. I am encouraged and compelled to really come to grips with how short time is, and my time is probably even shorter. I know that when I am in the audience, whether you come out with a ukelele or a marching band, all I ask is you give me everything you've got to give. That's what I did for the last 50 years. I'll give you all I've got to give. It's been an amazing, great run; no regrets, nothing to say about anybody. I'll miss y'all. Stay frosty."
