hot flashes news de profundis

London-based progressive doom-metallers DE PROFUNDIS have issued the following update from guitarist Shoi Sengupta:

"Good afternoon friends,

Apologies for the taking a few days off before letting you know how Bloodstock went, but let's put it this way, I came back Sunday night and I am still dead tired! I am pretty sure the rest of the band is as well.

I have to say this was a truly amazing event for De Profundis, as you may know we got the call to perform at BOA just around 6 weeks ago. Things had to get sorted at the last minute including flying back Aleksej half way across Europe during his holiday and finding a new drummer! We managed both and more (tell you all shortly).

We were really looking forward to playing our biggest gig in the UK so far, and hang out with all our friends. We spent Friday and Saturday giving out flyers, which paid off because come Sunday 12:15 PM the turnout for De Profundis was great, we just needed to deliver. And we did!

Bloodstock in my opinion ranks as the best gig De Profundis has played till date. It's the first time we all came off stage not criticising aspects of our performance instead being really pleased with ourselves. The euphoria was further helped when Richard, one of our crew members told us that our merch stand was swamped following our performance!

We also got to watch awesome bands during this 3 day metal fest including MOONSORROW, SWALLOW THE SUN, OVERKILL, NAPALM DEATH, OPETH and DIMMU BORGIR.

This is a good opportunity to thank a lot people for how well things went on Sunday. Firstly, Nick our new drummer who was playing his first gig with us at BOA. He slotted himself in with total ease and it felt that he'd been with us forever, both from a playing and human aspect.

To Steve "Lord of Metal" Watkins who ensured we had a killer sound on stage and through the front of house P.A. To both Paul and Richard, our crew who helped us out big time in getting everything ready on time.

Also on behalf of the entire band a big thank you goes to the Bloodstock organisers for inviting us to perform and the entire crew on the Unsigned Stage for their professionalism and encouragements!

Last but not least, I would like to welcome Chizzy, our new full time manager. She tirelessly promoted us to the press and promoters at BOA. She also ensured that certain band members keep their drunken antics to a minimum the night before the gig – which is great because going forward I won't have to do that anymore!

Anyway enough of me rambling, to everyone who came to see us BOA, and those who discovered De Profundis thank you and see you all soon. We will be spending the next few months writing the follow up to Beyond Redemption and release it during the first half of 2009.

In the meantime, we have some major gig announcements in the works – so watch this space …

Bleakest Regards."
