DragonForce guitarist Herman Li recently guested on The Heavy Hooks Show. During the interview, found below, Li reflects on the stage dive that went wrong, the popularity of "Through The Fire And Flames" to this day, the band's next album, and more.
On how Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock turned "Through The Fire And Flames" into a smash hit for DragonFOrce
Li: "We played Ozzfest mainstage, we went to America and did so many shows there. And then 'Guitar Hero III' came out, and now it's the meme song. I mean, everywhere; you open any social media and there's someone covering it, and it's cool. There are lots of great, great songs on Guitar Hero, but I guess ours was the most ridiculous. Seven minutes 15 seconds, and a huge guitar solo section, which wasn't like a usual thing you hear for many years. At 200 bpm, it's like, 'Okay, now we're going over the top.' The whole video was kind of meme-y when we did it, with the guitar battle and drinking booze at the same time."
