GUILT MACHINE / ex-STREAM OF PASSION guitarist Lori Linstruth is featured in a new interview with Shred This Way. An excerpt is available below:

Q: Who were your influences?

Linstruth: "Michael Schenker, Uli Jon Roth (and his brother Zeno), and Yngwie are the guitarists I've shamelessly borrowed the most from!"

Q: I'm sure you get this question a lot, but what is it like being a female metal guitarist, in what most people would call a male dominated genre?

Linstruth: "Well, being female instantly sets you apart from the crowd because of the novelty value, I will grant that. The flip side is that you also have to accept the fact that when you are being discussed on forums, etc., the commentators tend to focus on how you look and will eagerly give their opinions about that (good or bad). Of particular interest seems to be your relative degree of "hotness." And there are people who are very quick to glibly dismiss anything nice people have to say about your playing by countering that the only reason you get any attention at all was because you are female. I've learned that it's best not to pay attention to the internet chatter at all...if you're going to believe the good things people say, you have to believe the bad things as well. It's best not to believe any of it and just focus on the real reasons that you play (like for your own enjoyment or fulfillment)."
