Ashland, KY-based rockers HYDROGYN, featuring Julie Westlake (vocals), Jeff Westlake (guitars) and new addition Jeff Young (guitars / ex-MEGADETH) performed an acoustic set in Cleveland , Ohio at Quaker Steak & Lube this past Saturday (February 20th) as part of a showcase for Julie's soon to be released solo album. It was Young's first live performance with the band.

They have issued the following statement:

"Any ten-cent band can come together to practice and rehearse for days, weeks or months. All in an effort to perfect and fine tune each and every aspect of each song. But where's the fun in that we ask? What you are about to view is not only the very first public performance but the very first time these three musical allies have played together, having met for the very first time only the night before.

Just a mere hint of things to come..."

Following is the official press release commenting on Young joining Hydrogyn's ranks:

Hydrogyn are currently locked away in an undisclosed location in the snowy hills of Kentucky on a songwriting sabbatical working on their new album, Judgement, to be released later this year.

New to the fold is guitarist Jeff Young, who brings his renowned shredding virtuosity as evident on the classic and fan favorite Megadeth album So Far, So Good... So What (Capitol Records 1988).

Jeff joins members Julie (vox), Jeff Westlake (guitars), and NY based kHz drummer Joe Migz. Together, they plan to take Hydrogyn on a full on global assault in 2010.

Sharing bass tracks on the album will be fretless six-string bass wonder Jake Wolf, and surprise new addition, powerhouse bassist James Lomenzo best known for his acclaimed work in WHITE LION and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY. James will be making an appearance on a few selected songs, and is currently laying down bass tracks for the first single 'The Right Thing Now'. James is fresh off a recent and curious departure from Megadeth that made headlines around the world.

The band is in the midst of tracking and writing for their self produced album with the aim for a summer release. The first single release 'The Right Thing Now' will be mixed with famed producer and mutual friend Michael Wagener (SKID ROW, METALLICA, EXTREME) during the last week of April. The album’s impending release will be just in time for the summer festival season and gig offers are currently flooding in for shows across North America and Europe .

You can hear the band’s current single, an explosive cover of the MICHAEL SCHENKER (UFO) classic 'Assault Attack' now streaming on the band’s official MySpace page. Just a taste of what’s in store when the first release 'The Right Thing Now' from Judgement invades radio and video outlets in the weeks to come.

Julie, Jeff and Jeff will play their first acoustic show together in Cleveland , Ohio at Quaker Steak & Lube this Saturday, February 20th as part of a showcase for Julie's soon to be released solo album. Tix available at the door.
