All Metal Music's Anthony Chowanec reports:
"Here is an interview I conducted via email with Xaphan of KULT OV AZAZE. In it we discuss the new album, Destroying The Sacred, the recent Hostile City Death Festival which took place in Philadelphia PA, his connections with the church of Satan and more."The following is an excerpt from the above mentioned interview:
Q: Your new album, Destroying The Sacred, was originally supposed to come out in March but was pushed back until June because of the distributor having a problem with the cover. What was their problem exactly and what was your reaction when they did not want to release it?
A: "I don’t think they were too keen on the cover. It is the severed head of Jesus shoved onto a pike. We sort of had a feeling it would not go over too well with just about everyone involved. The only two that didn’t care was our label and the place that manufactures the artwork."
Q: How will Destroying The Sacred, differ from your previous releases.
A: "I think it is a bit thrashier than past releases."
Q: Who and what were your influences when writing Destroying The Sacred?
A: "I watch a lot of news. So the lyrics on this album are really, I suppose, inspired by past events, whether it was the “in the present” at the time of writing or happened in the past as in history. It’s really both intertwined now that I think about it. This album is night and day compared to our past ones when it comes to the lyrics. On past albums the content revolved around occult themes with heavy satanic overtones where as this one it is devoid of any those leanings. Lyrically, on the songs I wrote and that is seven out of nine the lyrics reflect how I feel, my thoughts and my perception of the world I see around me."
