BraveWords.com has received the following press release:

Hard rock band, RETURN TO EARTH, composed of COHEED AND CAMBRIA and ex-DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN drummer Chris Pennie, guitarist Brett Aveni, and vocalist Ron Scalzo, have completed the recording of their second album.

The rock trio are currently preparing for the upcoming release, entitled Automata, scheduled for early 2010 on Bald Freak Music. In an effort to build an early buzz, the label (which is owned and operated by Scalzo) has decided to make one of the new album tracks available for free download.

The song, which is called 'You Will Be Replaced', will be made available for streaming and free download starting today (October 22nd), thru the band’s MySpace page, as well as their website.

Scalzo has hinted that more free tracks from the album will follow all the way up to the release of the full-length.

Of the marketing strategy, Scalzo says, “We’re taking a page from some our favorite bands like RADIOHEAD and NINE INCH NAILS, and offering up some songs from the new album to the masses for free. The full album won’t be polished up for a few more months, and we’re all so psyched about how great the tunes are sounding, so we figured we’d give everyone a free taste a little early in the game. Hopefully our fans, both new and old, will spread the word and generate some excitement over the forthcoming music.”

Automata is currently being mixed & mastered by GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal.

Drawing upon the synergy of their first collaboration, 2007’s Captains of Industry (also available thru Bald Freak), Pennie, Aveni, and Scalzo feel confident in the strength of the new material.

Says Pennie of the new song, “’Replaced’ is a very clever song in so many ways. The song is essentially in an odd meter, but because of the catchy riff and melody lines, that never gets in the way of the vibe. I feel there are so many great tunes on Automata, but ‘Replaced’ has this vibe where I wanna smack someone right in the face when I hear it.”
