Boston metallers STEEL ASSASSIN have finished recording their new album, In Hellfire Forged. About the album, bassist Phil Grasso has issued the following update to BraveWords.com:

"It’s mostly re-recorded versions of some of your favorite songs off of From The Vault”, with a couple of surprises. First song is 'Burn Witch Burn' which is a song that Steel Assassin was doing in 1984, but for some reason never recorded. You may be familiar with the song from my MADD HUNTER S/T CD. But let me just say that the way I played it on the M.H. CD was different the way we used to do it. And the way John (Falzone) sings it is amazing!! The other song we’re putting on this CD is called 'Breakout At St. Lo', which is a brand new song that will be on our next CD. The next CD will be brand new material all about events, battles surrounding WWII. So 'Breakout' is like a bonus track/prelude to the next CD. We actually recorded two of the new WWII songs that we will be shopping to labels in search of a deal for the WWII CD. But this CD In Hellfire Forged we will be releasing ourselves.

Some of you may be wondering why we decided to revisit and re-record these older tunes. The reasons are that it will be 25 years since we did those old demos, and we’ve had fans and labels asking us if we’d be interested in re-recording the older tunes with our new singer John and record them properly, since From The Vaults was only a compilation of demos that were hastily recorded back then to send to labels at the time, and were never meant to be released. The other point is that we never intended to re-record them anyway. "
