THE OFFENDERS Guitarist Tony "Offender" Johnson Passes

Austin-based guitarist Tony "Offender" Johnson passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 12th at the age of 54 after a 20-month struggle with lung cancer. THE OFFENDERS were an influential Texas hardcore band in the 1980s. Tony married HENDRIX-style flash with the high-speed hardcore to create a sound matched by no other. Tony also recently played with the Austin punk band ROGER'S PORN COLLECTION along with Offenders drummer Pat Doyle (IGNITOR). He is survived by his daughter Natalie Johnson and son Alex Johnson. The international music community will miss him greatly.
